Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas, I'm on a two week vacation from school. A much needed one at that. I passed my math 208 with an A-, and I'm so so ho ho happy. Anyway it's Christmas day/night and the Chargers solidified a 2nd seed in the playoffs. Whooo Hoooo!!! Merry Christmas!!!

Math 208 is done!!

I finished Math 208. The last class for 2009. I think I did farely well, just gotta wait for the results for the final. I liked math. I honestly thought I was going to do horribly but I surprised myself.

I joined the A team with Charlsi, Heidi, and Alfredo. Daniel was the other team member but he dropped school. That's too bad, he had been going for as long as I and its unfortunate to quit so early. I wish him well. But we have two weeks off for Christmas vacation. I can't believe this year has passed so fast.

I look foward to next year and the challenges that await. I'm so proud of myself for sticking with it and maintaing an A average.

That saying truly applies here, "if I can do it, anyone can". I am a Phoenix!!!!!

3rd Class Math 208

Well, I am suprising myself. I have somehow made math fun. I get excited when I get problems correct and I actually look forward to solving them. I don't know where this enthusiasm is coming from but I like it. I have this passion for math. I give this glory and all glory to God almighty. Without him I would not be here. Thank you Lord. You have laid my path and are showing me the way.

I look forward to the challenge of this class. Math208 has been my friend. I'll take it and run with it. I am a Phoenix!

Update on school and life.

Well I had my first class of my sophmore year on Monday. The class is Math208 and it's a algebra type course. I have a lot of refreshing to do but I will catch on. I liked the first class and look forward to the next 9 weeks of math. I have Math209 after this so it's gonna be fun fun fun..lol.

On another note my wifes grandmother passed away last week and although I didn't know her well, she lived a long and full life. I'm sad for my wife but I'm showing my support by being there for her.

Well I'll post somewhere down the road here, maybe next year in Feb. near the end of my 2nd math class just so it gives a broad spectrum of time. But i'll see, talk at ya later!!

Freshman year done!!

Ok it's Wednesday but I finished my freshman year and my 8th class on Monday, Nov. 7th. It tured out to be an ok class afterall. My learning team ended up only being 2 but it worked out for the better. I learned a lot in this class from Dr. January Riddle, yea you read right, and I'm thankful I had her as an instructor.

I have two classes of Math next, so for the next 10 weeks I'll be in math.

My attitude has changed a bit, I don't feel like leaving as of yet, but hey my frustration will be back I know it.

I had some fun in that class and I'm glad because I cannot see math being fun.

Well I'm off, it's Wed. Veterans day and my wife is off so I don't have to scurry off and be the taxi driver today.

New Class late post

Ok this post is late but I started my new class last week, its Comm215 essential of college writing, yipppie, so freaking exciting. Well I'm late on this post because I'm actually getting a bit tired of school. I need a break I think, plus working out is taking its toll. Well I start week 2 of this class tomorrow and thought I would post something, so there is something, peace!

7th Class is over!!!

OMG!!! I'm so glad this class is over. I feel like giving school a break untill after the holidays. I'm so f'n bored and really need some type of break. This last class was a complete disaster in my bood and the team I was on was really a big joke.

Well another one down and who knows how many more. I hope I can hang with it and keep on keeping on. I feel like transfering and doing something I would rather do. I dont know what's going to happen but I hope things get better.

Bored and unsure.

Today is Sunday, my Chargers won, it's my 36th birthday and I went to the Pacific Islander Fest. Overall I had fun, it was a little hot but fun. I'm trying to get my reading done for class tomorrow but I'm just so bored of this class. I should've read my syllabus better because I have a 700+ word paper due and I havnt started it.

There is also a team paper due and none of the team has done anything towards it. I'm thinking I'm just going to say forget it and take the 0 for the assignment. I also think I might get a failing grade or barely pass. I need inspiration and thought maybe writing in my journal would help. I thought about seeing about attending platt college for graphic design but I dont think I have enough love for art in general to go. I'm so bored and just want this class to be over with. I'm finding thinking to be a hard task for me right now and I need a break or something. I need to find the strength to keep on pushing and remember why I came to school. Fight Fight Fight, you can do it. OK I'm going to try writing or reading. Update sometime later. Peace..

First Time

For the first time as a student mentor I got to do something with it. I got up infront of a nursing class of 5 and spoke to them about what we do. I liked doing that and I wanna do somemore...I'm going to work on it..

First day of class in PHI/251

Today was the first day of my critical thinking class. We had class in our other SanDiego location at stonecrest. We had five new classmates but for the most part the class is the same. I seem to like our instructor so far, she seems nice. We formed a learning team and I have a girl that is almost done with school. I wanna pick her brain and just get some inside info from her about school.

Other than that, nothing special is going on and all is well. We have labor day off so I won't have class for another two weeks.

Last class for RES/110

The last class for my 6th set of classes has gone by. Nothing really special happened in this class, although, one of my team members is and was a f'n idiot. Not because he didn't do work but for the fact he was a pompus asshole!!!! ok said my peace.

Overall this class went well. I should have a strong A, unlike my two previous classes. I'm happy and the only thing I hope goes well is my reapplying for financial aid. If that was to fall through, well I guess I would be giving these journals a break. I'm hoping and praying and only time will tell.

On a positive note, I've been working out for the past few weeks and noticing much progress.

Next class is critical thinking, oh great just what I need!! ahaha

Bored out of my mind!

Ok I'm writing this in hopes that I can find inspiration to get some work done. Honestly I cannot stand the two in my team. One guy is the definition of a biggot and the other is completely full of himself.

There is two papers due, one is for the team and the other is individual but I don't want to do either. I have to muster up the energy and motivation to get this work done.

1st day of class RES/110

Today was my first day of my sixth class. The class is Research 110 and our instructor seem interesting. His name is Stephen Albert and he is a minister. Stephen is also a Ph.d and knows his stuff.

I have switched classes or classmates for the most part, although, there are a few from my old class. But I think I'm going to like this class. This first class was actually pretty enlighting and for a change, I enjoyed the first day.

There is a lot of class left and I will update sometime in the middle to give an update. I can't believe I'm half way through my first year here at UOP.

I'm so excited and inspired by school and I look forward to the journey more so than the end. This path I walk is going to be inspirational and I hope my lifes journey from here on out is fun.

Oh and my sister turned 30 and it's my mom's birthday too, Happy Birthday stinky and mom!!!

Last day of class COMM 105

Last day of class and all went well. Once again the instructor used my paper as an example. However, the feedback wasn't completely good. She opened the class up for feedback and a few classmates suggested I work on a few things. In my defense, I was sick, extremely sick, the week leading up to that class. One of the worst weeks of my life.

Overall this class was ok. I learned a few things on grammar. There was a 60 question final and I hope I did well. I will be changing classes next class. I will not be with the students from my Comm class. I really don't mind because it wasn't anything special.

Hopefully I receive a good grade for this class. My next class is on research. Sounds real fun, barf!!! lol...

Well I'm off in the sunset. Time is moving and I'm getting that much closer to obtaining my degree. Exciting stuff!! Till next class!!!

Michael Jackson dies June 25, 2009

Michael Jackson died yesterday. One of the people that had everything to do with my music. I will miss him, and his music was everything for me. Rest in Peace Michael, maybe one day we'll be doing the moonwalk together.

First day of class Comm105/Written Comm.

The first day of class came and went. The class was full and hot, literally. Even though the air conditioner was on, the thing didn't turn on often enough.

As far as class goes, it was fine and dandy. The instructor is a part time reporter for Channel 6 news in S.D. She seems tough and I hope I earn an A in this class. I think I got bored or something because I just wasn't into this first class at all.

Well the first assignment is easy and look forward to learning more about writing again.

I will post sometime between now and the end of class. I won't bother with the boring stuff because I don't want to come back later and read this and be like, why did I write that.

Tragedy to a fellow classmate

It's Sunday, Fathers Day, Happy FathersDay!!!! Well the next class is upon me. It starts tomorrow on Monday and I look forward to the challenge.

Well the post is just in honor of a friend and classmate. On Thursday June 18, 2009 a fellow classmate Elise Harvath was involved in a bad car accident. She was serverly injured and had to have part of her leg amputated.

In describing Elise she was a beautiful, no she is a beautiful young woman, strong and fiesty. She was a challenge in my last learning team, to say the least, but she was a joy to have in the team. She was a crazy one, and I have my suspicions as to what her occupation was. But I will miss her and hope for her speedy recovery.

The significance of this is just so I can remind myself, life is short and not to take advantage.

Last day of class!!

Yesterday was the last day of class and I appreciate what I learned. In this class my experience with PowerPoint went up three fold. I had a dramatic moment and wonder if it was truly self inflicted or if true emotion came from within. I won't touch on the subject but I wish I wouldn't have acted like I did.

Overall this class went well and although I had a hard time in the beginning, the class turned out well. I will miss some people in this class for some reason but moving on is always good. I'm not sure what grade I will get in this class but as long as I pass that will be sufficient enough.

My next class is written communication and it is going to be taught by a part time reporter for San Diego 6 News, pretty cool. I look forward to doing new things and experiencing new people.

On another note I am now officially one of UOP student mentors and I look forward to helping students in anyway I can. I'm excited about this opportunity!!!

Just an update

Class is going well, and there is only one class left. I'm enjoying this class so far and I appreciate the class size now. I like the intimate class setting. I officially became an UOP student mentor and my info will be in all Syllabi soon. I'm hoping my financial aid for the next school year goes through, if I couldn't attend this school I'm not sure how that would affect me.

Second Class

Well suprisingly I enjoyed my second class. I pulled a rabbit out of my ass again and made sure our team had the assignment done. I have a cop, a minister, and a fumbling idiot in my team but I can manage I suppose. We have a team presentation due next week and I'm not quite sure how this is going to turn out. But overall I enjoyed the class and although I don't completely care for the instructors teaching style, I think she's ok overall. Peace!!

Started New Class HUM 110 Oral Comm.

I hate this class, mostly because I don't have any old chums in it from my previous class. I seriously need to try and form a steady learning team. I feel as if I'm going to be bored to death in this new class. I almost want to transfer and do something I want to do. I might want to transfer to a graphic design college, but I'm not sure the payoff would be worth it. Not sure what I want to do but I have to figure it out soon....I'll post either at the end or beginning sometime or whenever...peace!!

3rd class overwith finally!

Well I finished my 3rd course and I have to say it was quite an adventure. Overall the class was OK, but the instructor, Reina Menasche, made the class uninteresting. She tried to hard to make it fun but in the end just made it monotonous. I'm glad this course is done and ready to move on, after 5 weeks of it I'm ready for a change. My next course is oral communications, sounds boring but I guess I'll just wait and see. I'm having a great time getting to know new people. That part I enjoy a lot. Well its off for me but I will post after next class and see how it goes.

Just an update on school

Well this class has been quite boring, but at the same time enlightening. My learning team has been fun to deal with but that experience has helped me understand that if I don't take control of certain situations things with team member can get out of control. Overall this class has been decent, with some challenges. I will update at the end of this class with what went down. Peace!!

New class/ The Art of watching Films.

Well yesterday, Monday April 13, 2009 was my first day of my third course. I must say it was extremely boring, and I hope I make it through. The class is about watching films with an analytical mindset. I have trouble analyzing my thoughts, let alone a film. Well this class is going to suck but I'm going to do my best and hopefully get another A. So my next post will be at the end of this course, and a big sigh of relief.

Last class in my 2nd course Soc/110

It has been a rough 5 weeks, but I learned a lot from this course. I really learned how to write papers somewhat correctly. I appreciate how hard this course was because it will make me a better student down the road. I gave an outstanding presentation which is on youtube and hopefully i posted it along with this journal entry. My Soc/110 class was great, I owe a lot of my learning to my instructor Vickie Horton, she was absolutely great! I can't wait for my next class which is on films, should be a great class for me.

LAST DAY OF FIRST COURSE

WELL MY LAST DAY OF MY FIRST COURSE CAME AND WENT, IVE LEARNED A LOT FROM THIS EXPERIENCE. I GAVE A TOP NOTCH INSPIRATIONAL PRESENTATION AND WAS TOLD BY MY INSTRUCTOR IF I EVEN NEEDED A LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION FOR Valedictorian. I WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED, THAT A GUY WITH NO HOPE FOR HIS FUTURE COULD EVER HEAR THOSE WORDS. I LOVED MY FIRST COURSE AND LOOK FORWARD TO MOVING AHEAD AND LEAVING MY MARK. TONIGHT WAS A GREAT NIGHT FOR ME.

1st course almost done...

Well I'm almost done with my first course and next Monday 02/23/09 will be my last class of my first course. It's been great so far, I really enjoy class. The team thing is a little unorganized but as time goes on and the classes go, I'm sure I'll get it down. I'm so glad I decided to go back to school, its going to be a great journey.

FIRST WEEK

Well my first week in school is going well. I'm beginning to learn how to study and just keep chipping away at homework. Luckily I don't have a job right now so there is more time for homework, and reading. At the University of Phoenix we use learning teams, and my team is not much of a team right now. We have yet to have type of communication and my frustration is growing. Fortunately there is the option to fire them, which I will do next class if they do not show up. Other than that I'm having a good time learning how to learn all over again. There is no doubt in my mind, that going to school was a great decision. See ya soon.

FIRST DAY OF CLASS 01/26/2009

MONDAY NIGHT 01/26/2009 WAS MY FIRST CLASS IN ROOM 21 AT THE UOP SAN DIEGO KEARNY MESA CAMPUS. IT WAS WHAT I EXPECTED AND MORE THAN I EXPECTED. I'M EXCITED TO GET STARTED, CHALLENGE MYSELF AND CHART MY MENTAL GROWTH. I WILL POST EVERY CLASS AND POST THROUGHOUT THE WEEK. SO FOR NOW ITS GREAT, WILL MY ATTITUDE CHANGE AS THE COURSED GET HARDER? WILL IT CHANGE AS MY LEARNING TEAM MEMBERS CHANGE, GROW, AND WE LEARN HOW TO OVERCOME CONFLICT? I CANT WAIT TO SEE.
